Mandatory Reporting Changes
Mandatory reporting is an essential requirement designed to guarantee that CalFresh benefits reach those who genuinely qualify and need assistance. It helps identify changes in circumstances that may impact eligibility. CalFresh participants are required to report any changes in their household situation, income, and other relevant factors that might affect their eligibility or benefit amount. It is important to report those changes to avoid potential over-issuance and interruptions in receiving benefits.
You MUST report the things below within 10 days of when they happen:
- Anytime someone moves into or out of your household
- If you moved to a new address
- You have a change in the source of income including starting, stopping or changing jobs
- Earned income changes by more than $100
- Unearned income changes by more than $50 (except for CalWORKs or General Assistance)
- Rent or utility costs change (only if you move)
