Utilities Savings Program at The Colleges at La Rue

The Utilities Savings Program at The Colleges at La Rue is a PG&E CARE equivalent program that helps students living on-campus pay their energy bills. This program is specifically designed for students living on campus at The Colleges at La Rue who pay the PG&E rate but are not eligible for the PG&E CARE program. Following similar eligibility requirements for CARE, qualifying students receive 20% off the utilities portion of their housing bill for the remainder of their lease.  

Eligibility Requirements

  1. Must be an enrolled UC Davis student.
  2. Must be enrolled in CalFresh, AggieFresh, or other qualifying program.
  3. Students must live at the address to which the discount applies and be listed on the lease. 

Program Notes:

  • Utilities Savings Program is available only at The Colleges at La Rue at this time.
  • Students must reapply for the Utilities Savings Program with each new lease cycle.
  • Students must provide a copy of their award letter (or other official program documentation) as verification of enrollment in one of the programs below,
    • CalFresh
    • AggieFresh
    • WIC
    • MediCal
    • SSI
    • CalWorks
    • Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance

Application Process

  • Send a copy of your CalFresh or AggieFresh award letter (or other program verification) to the Utilities Department (utilbill@ucdavis.edu) with the subject line, "Utility Savings Program at The Colleges at La Rue” and include your name, student ID number and apartment number in the email. 
  • The Utilities Department will respond via email, usually within 5 business days.
    • If you are approved, a monthly discount will be applied to your utility bill, ending only when your lease terminates.
    • If you are denied, you will be referred to Aggie Compass Basic Needs Center for additional support.
