Beyond the Basics

Beyond the Basics
Aggie Compass Career & Skills Program

The Aggie Compass Career & Skills Program represents a significant and forward-thinking effort within the UC Davis community to address the evolving needs of students and recent graduates. This initiative is designed to go beyond the standard curriculum and traditional academic support systems, recognizing that education should extend outside the classroom and into the realm of practical skill development and career preparation.

In today's competitive job market, having a degree alone may not be enough. Employers increasingly seek candidates who possess not only academic knowledge but also a wide range of skills and competencies that are relevant to their industries. The Aggie Compass Career and Skills Program acknowledges this shift in the employment landscape and aims to bridge the gap between education and the workforce.

Goals

Primary goal: Enhance the employability of students and recent graduates by equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and opportunities necessary for success in their chosen fields!

1.  Bolster the employability of students and recent graduates from all backgrounds in gaining critical skills needed for professional success.

2. Emphasize the importance of fostering professional development within the student community through personal growth, networking, and the acquisition of soft skills

3. Ensure that students are well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities they will encounter in their professional journeys.
